Yes, Mormons Attack Christianity

Following up from the last post I give another example where Mormons have taught evil of REAL Christianity:

Q. After the Church of Christ fled from earth to heaven, what was left?

A set of wicked Apostates, murderers, and idolaters, who, after having made war with the saints, and overcome them, and destroyed them out of the earth, were left to follow the wicked imaginations of their own corrupt hearts, and to build up churches by human authority, and to follow after the cunning craftiness of uninspired men; having no Apostle, Prophet, or Revelator to inquire of God for them: and thus, because of wickedness, the Church, and Priesthood, and gifts, and ordinances and blessings of the everlasting Gospel, were taken from the earth, and reserved in heaven until the fulness of times, when it was predicted that they should again be restored among men to continue until the end should come.

Mormons Believe THEY Are the Real Faith

Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the ‘whore of Babylon' whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. Any person who shall be so corrupt as to receive a holy ordinance of the Gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent.

Mormon Apostle Orson Pratt, The Seer, p. 255

Mormons often complain about the “judgmentalism” of Christians who refuse to accept the LDS as another Christian denomination. But remember, they have always taught that they are the ONLY real Christian faith. However, members of the LDS are NOT Christians and are eternally condemned unless they place their faith in the real Jesus of the Bible for forgiveness of their sins.

What Was the Real View of God Held By Early Christians? Part 2

The following is excerpted from Gospel Topics Essay: Are Mormons Christian? The article is written by Eric Johnson. This post is a continuation from my previous post.

As with the previous post, where in the original article Eric underlines the statements from the LDS essay, I will use italics instead. I will then put Eric’s rebuttal in blue except when he is quoting Scripture and then it will be in red.

Latter-day Saints believe the melding of early Christian theology with Greek philosophy was a grave error. Chief among the doctrines lost in this process was the nature of the Godhead. The true nature of God the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost was restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith.

Which version of Joseph Smith’s teaching ought we to accept when it comes to the Godhead. The earlier version according to the Book of Mormon claimed:

*God was only one God (Alma 11:26-29; 2 Nephi 31:21; Mosiah 13:34, 15:1-4; Alma 11:44; 3 Nephi 11:27, 36; Mormon 7:7)

*God is unchangeable and eternal progression is impossible (Mos. 3:5; 3 Nephi 24:6; Mormon 9:9-10; Mormon 9:19; Moroni 7:22, 8:18)

*God is a spirit and could not be a glorified man (Alma 18:2-5, 18:24-28, 22:9-11)

Or should we accept the later version, as taught by Joseph Smith in the last couple years of his life?

*“I wish to declare I have always and in all congregations when I have preached on the subject of the Deity, it has been the plurality of Gods” (History of the Church 6:474).

*“God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens!” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 345).

*“We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pg. 345).

*“The Father has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man’s” (D&C 130:22).

*“The idea that the Father and the Son dwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is false” (D&C 130:3. Oddly enough, the Book of Mormon teaches the Lord does dwell in the hearts of the righteous. See Alma 34:36).

If any religion has gone through changes from the original, Mormonism is surely the candidate!

….

As a consequence, Latter-day Saints hold that God the Father is an embodied being, a belief consistent with the attributes ascribed to God by many early Christians. This Latter-day Saint belief differs from the post-New Testament creeds.

No supporting evidence is given to support such a claim.

Whatever the doctrinal differences that exist between the Latter-day Saints and members of other Christian religions, the roles Latter-day Saints ascribe to members of the Godhead largely correspond with the views of others in the Christian world. Latter-day Saints believe that God is omnipotent, omniscient, and all-loving,

While Mormons might say their God is “all-loving” and point to the LDS rejection of hell, one must ask, Why did God kick one-third of his children out of pre-existence, never to be given the chance to have a body, based on one error in judgment (choosing Lucifer over Jesus)? While their version of hell (outer darkness) might be impossible to ever attain, a good number of souls will never have the chance to experience one of the three kingdoms.

Another premise used in arguing that Latter-day Saints are not Christians is that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not descend from the traditional line of today’s Christian churches: Latter-day Saints are not Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, or Protestant. Latter-day Saints believe that by the ministering of angels to Joseph Smith priesthood authority to act in God’s name was returned or brought back to earth. This is the “restored,” not a “reformed,” church of Jesus Christ. The Latter-day Saint belief in a restored Christianity helps explain why so many Latter-day Saints, from the 1830s to the present, have converted from other Christian denominations. These converts did not, and do not, perceive themselves as leaving the Christian fold; they are simply grateful to learn about and become part of the restored Church of Jesus Christ, which they believe offers the fulness of the Lord’s gospel, a more complete and rich Christian church—spiritually, organizationally, and doctrinally.

While Mormons may say their church has never criticized other churches, this is just inaccurate. Check out this article to see a number of quotes where the leadership blasted Christianity.  To claim that your church is the “only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth” shows that all others are lacking in authority. Indeed, according to LDS leaders, the Mormon Church is, by itself, the only true church….

Agglomeration

I am getting so behind in the topics I want to share on this blog as I pray that readers will see the error of the LDS, that I’m going have another collection of links to articles I think are really important.

If you are a Mormon, please thoughtfully study what you read at the linked articles. If you know a Mormon, please share these articles.  The truth about Mormonism and its false belief system is easily discerned if people are truly seeking the God of the Bible.

I just came across this article from August 2019, but I think it is still worth sharing. I hope more of this type of lawsuit takes place.

If the Mormon prophets are truly prophets of God, why do they need to keep changing things?  (The Book of Mormon itself has 4,000 changes.) Temple clothes are another thing being changed —if they got the design from God via Smith?…

Why do Mormons feel the need to continue attacking Christians, all the while claiming they do not do so?

Why is there so much lying by LDS Church leadership? It happens again and again. In fact, the whole of Joseph Smith’s teachings are proven too many times to be nothing but lies.

And it isn’t just lies, but also plagiarisms! And don’t even get me started on the many, many contradictions in Mormon teachings; you can find a lot of those noted on this blog by selecting the subject “Contradictions.” Here’s another link with LDS contradictions.
Think about it — it the church has so many contradictions in its teachings, how can it be from God?

What happened to Zelph? If the story about him is true, why is he not in the forefront of LDS teachings which supposedly prove Joe Smith was a prophet of God?

Joseph Smith claimed Jesus was a polygamist and that he, Joseph, is a descendant of Jesus and therefore is qualified to hold the “keys of salvation.” This is one of the most blasphemous teachings of the Mormon Church.

Well, I guess that’s enough thought-provoking for now — at least I HOPE it provokes thinking. Mormons are still dead in their sins without a real savior.

LDS: Christians Rob Souls of Men

The original post of what I am posting below is found at Life After Ministry.

1 John 2:9 “He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.”

Today we’re looking at excerpts taken from a Mormon circular published in 1848 by LDS apostle, Orson Spencer.

While we’re not immune to coming across anti-Christian literature in Mormon propaganda, it was surprising to see an entire booklet dedicated to defaming Christianity. The booklet was written and printed for members living in Great Britain just four years after Joe, and Hyrum Smith were killed in Nauvoo, IL. Because of its sheer length, we’ve pulled a few quotes for examples. To read their entire circular, see link provided below.

Sadly, the Church’s attitude towards Christianity hasn’t changed. Proof  of this is seen in their canon — 1 Nephi 14:10.

It’s important for Christians to remember when witnessing to Mormons there’s not any one thing that’ll change their minds. This is done through the supernatural work of God’s Holy Spirit! Our job is to plant seeds of truth by explaining the identity of the real Jesus of the Bible.

We’ve posted our findings today to provide insight on what Mormons really think of people who aren’t LDS.

Although it’s not new to me personally, it’ll always be heartbreaking to know this is how I used to think each day when I was LDS.

Pray for those who feel trapped to ask the Lord for courage to leave!

With Love in Christ;

Michelle

LDS More Faithful Than Any Other People

“We claim that no people of any age of the world ever kept the commandments of God more faithfully under circumstances as trying and difficult…
…it is utterly impossible for any man to show up any manifest discrepancy between the doctrines and ordinances of the Latter-day Saints, and the doctrines and ordinances of the Primitive Saints, it is equally impossible to show that the former have not maintained these doctrines and ordinances more faithfully than any other people on the face of the whole earth. …

Evil Christianity Shouldn’t Talk Against LDS

[p.2] … Before men can successfully traduce and impeach the character of the Latter-day Saints, they have to demolish the only bible standard of character.

Our accusers are indeed the devoted advocates of modern Christianity…Modern Christianity is a libel on the bible. …

It strips the bible of all that makes it savory to the souls of men, for this world and the next. Many of the abettors of Christianity do this…

The friends of modern Christianity are the last people that should talk against the character of the Latter-day Saints; but still they talk the most, and are the most virulent opposers. …

Modern Christianity Robs The Souls Of Man

[p.3] … Blush for thy character, oh thou advocate of modern Christianity. Thou art robbing the souls of men of the most precious blessings ever revealed to man!

… Thou art substituting a false and strange God in the place of the true and living God. …

Millions Have Perished In 17 Centuries Of Darkness

Thou hast so mutilated and garbled the ancient gospel, for more than seventeen hundred years, and darkened the pathway to heaven, by commentaries and the precepts of men, that many generations have lived and perished under thy deceivings without God in the world. …

Abominable Modern Christianity

[p.4]The character of modern Christianity is abominable everywhere. The very heathens are ashamed of her vices, and dread to come in contact with her polluted breath…When a few more of the servants of God have sealed their testimony with their blood, the shame of her nakedness will not only be made manifest, but she will be burned with fire.” — Orson Spencer, 1848

Agglomeration

As I do on my main apologetics blog, I like to post a collection of links to articles which my readers should find of interest. When it comes to Mormonism, I can’t help but link to articles on an excellent site which exposes the false teachings of that belief system. I usually have links to other sites also, so this won’t be totally a promotion of Life After Ministry — but very close! So let’s get started.

Would you like a crash course on Mormonism in order to converse with the “missionary” at your door?

Mormonism is rife with contractions in their teachings, and they know it but don’t want to acknowledge it. They often will hide these past contradictions, especially to their young people.  They often defy the rest of humanity as they contradict themselves. I could give evidence after evidence showing LDS contradictions, but let’s just look at this last one, concerning the term “only begotten.”

The LDS history is also rife with false prophecies; here’s one I hadn’t previously heard of.

Mormons always claim they don’t attack Christians and therefore we shouldn’t “attack” (i.e. expose) them. Those who have read this blog know that I have listed many times and places where Mormons denigrate Christianity and really attack it.  I found this older article which gives more great examples refuting this lie of Mormonism.

If the Mormons ever studied archaeology they would learn that the whole origin of their religion, and the claims of the Book of Mormon, just don’t have anything about them which is part of reality.

More evidence proving Joseph Smith’s “first vision” was totally fabricated.

The truth about Joseph Smith’s “martyrdom” is that he died in a gun battle, not as a martyr.

Another anachronism proving the lie of Mormonism.

About those witnesses to the Book of Mormon—their “evidence" couldn’t even stand up in court.

It still all comes down to sex for salvation.

Did you know that God was wrong to give Adam just one wife? Well according to Mormonism, monogamy degenerates humanity.  Actually, many studies have shown that polygamy degenerates humanity.  Just look at how it degrades women!

Well, now we’ll end this edition with two items currently in the news:

The LDS is trying to re-invent their racist past but a printing error brings it out! I guess the Book of Mormon is now wrong and that the racial curse is just a theory.

Brigham Young University is now allowing same-sex couples to participate in a ballroom dance competition. This is giving tacit approval to homosexual relationships, contrary to God’s commands against homosexuality.

Did They Really Say That?!?

What does the Christian world know about God? Nothing . . . Why so far as the things of God are concerned, they are the veriest fools; they know neither God nor the things of God.

John Taylor, Salt Lake City, May 6, 1870, Journal of Discourses 13:225.

The Mormons are the real people who do not know God or the things of God.  They know only the false man-god of the false LDS gospel.

Did He Really Say That?!?

The Devil has the mastery of the earth: he has corrupted it, and has corrupted the children of men. He has led them in evil until they are almost entirely ruined, and are so far from God that they neither know Him nor his influence, and have almost lost sight of everything that pertains to eternity. This darkness is more prevalent, more dense, among the people of Christendom, than it is among the heathen. They have lost sight of all that is great and glorious—of all principles that pertain to life eternal.

Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 14, 1860.  Journal of Discourses 8:209.

Remember this the next time a Mormon tells you that your shouldn’t “bash” Mormons because they’ve never “bashed” Christians.

Did He Really Say That?!?

From the days of Adam to the present, whenever the Lord has had a people on earth, temples and temple ordinances have been a crowning feature of their worship. . . . The inspired erection and proper use of temple is one of the great evidences of the divinity of the Lord’s work. . . . where these are not, the Church and kingdom and the truth of heaven are not.

Bruce R. McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, pp. 780-781

Notice that this is another attack on Christianity, because we don’t have the cited features.  The problem, really, is that nowhere in Scripture will you find Christians with temples and temple ordinances. And the things performed in their temples — eternal marriages, baptisms for the dead, etc — also are not found in Scripture!

The LDS is not a Christian faith. Period.

The LDS Never Attacks Christianity?

I’m continually finding citations by Mormon leaders denigrating the Christian faith, although they keep claiming that they never speak against us.  Here is another citation to prove what liars they are.

. . . All the priests who adhere to the sectarian religions of the day with all their followers, without one exception, receive their portion with the devil and his angels.”

Elders Journal, Joseph Smith Jr., editor, vol.1, no.4, p. 60

Of course the “sectarian religions” were all the various denominations of Christianity. Don’t let the Mormon missionary knocking on your door get away with the lie they don’t attack Christians.

Odds and Ends

I’ve come across some interesting items I decided to share outside of a long post.  These are some things which should provoke thinking among Mormons.

I’ve always been unsure about how the LDS looks at the idea of evolutionism; after all, they think matter has always existed. Someone asked me this week what the LDS viewpoint was, and I came across this article which should answer the question.

Ever wonder why the Mormons seem to be so arrogant? It’s because they are better than you.

Okay, Mormons, just who really was John the Baptist?  Nothing in Scripture even hints at him being any sort of priest, and nowhere does the Bible say anyone has to have some priesthood authority to baptize people. And he was a man and died a man, and did not resurrect as an angel (which is a separate creation type and men do not become one).

For this one I have to ask, “Did They Really Say That?!?”  Whereas the Bible plainly states that Judas hanged himself, Mormon teaching has him being beaten to death by Jesus’ apostles!
Does a real prophet have to lie and attempt to seduce a young woman to commit adultery by claiming that God has directed it? Look at this video and give it some really objective thoughts about what went on and truthfully ask if this is really what a prophet of God would do.

Seriously, does this sound at all Biblical or Christian? Try studying Freemasonry and you will see where Joseph Smith got these oaths. They certainly did NOT come from God, and any objective examination would have to come to that conclusion.

Okay Mormon, is murder a sin God forgives — or is it a sin God doesn’t forgive?  The whole “blood atonement” teaching of Brigham Young even placed a rule to be forgiven of murder, and that was to have your own blood spilled in your execution (which is why Utah had the firing squad as a choice for execution until fairly recently.)

Coincidences in Mormonism.  If you think these are just coincidences, you need to put on your thinking cap and look at these objectively!

And, yes, all but two of these items come from the same source, but the source is 100% accurate in exposing the false teachings of the Mormon church, and I want to help spread their message!
