A Blasphemous “Hymn”

Although I have seen this before, it was recently brought to my attention again by the Life After Ministry blog.

Read these lyrics:

Praise to his mem’ry he died as a martyr; 

Honored and blest be his ever great name!

Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins, 

Plead unto heav’n while the earth lauds his fame.

Great is his glory and endless his priesthood.  

Ever and ever the keys he will hold.

Faithful and true, he will enter his kingdom, 

Crowned in the midst of the prophets of old.

Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven; 

Earth must atone for the blood of that man.

Wake up the world for the conflict of justice.  

Millions shall know “Brother Joseph” again.

As I have stated many, many times, Smith was not a martyr because he got into a gunfight with those who came to get him—HE SHOT BACK!!

This “hymn” sounds like a praise and worship Joseph Smith song.  The “earth” doesn’t laud his fame; he was only famous to the LDS cult. To the rest of the world he was infamous.  AND Smith’s “priesthood,” as fake as it was, ended with his death!

Since Smith was a false prophet he will hot see God as the real prophets of God did. 

This song is so full of lies it should be torn out of the Mormon hymnal.

Salvation Through Joseph Smith?

Turn to hymn #27, “Praise to the Man,” in the Mormon Hymnbook and you will find this:

Praise to the Man who communed with Jehovah!

Jesus anointed that prophet and seer.

Blessed to open the last dispensation,

Kings shall extol him and nations revere.

Chorus:

Hail to the prophet, ascended to heaven!

Traitors and tyrants now fight him in vein [sic].

Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren;

Death cannot conquer the hero again.

Praise to his memory he died as a martyr;

Honored and blest be his ever-great name!

Mormons have long taught that Joseph Smith ultimately determined their salvation, so is it any wonder that they have a hymn worshipping him?

According to the 11th Mormon President, Harold, B. Lee, “A testimony of Joseph Smith is vital.  No man can accept Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world, no man can accept this as His church, the Church of Jesus Christ, unless he can accept Joseph Smith as God’s mouthpiece and the restorer of His work in these latter days.  First, to say that we are Christians then requires two or three certainties.  We must know for certainty in our hearts and minds that Jesus is the Christ, the Savior of the world.  We must know that this in indeed the Church of Jesus Christ, the kingdom of God on earth in these last days; and finally we must have a testimony that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.”  (The Teachings of Harold B. Lee, p.371)

When the LDS prophets, presidents, and teachers say that Joseph Smith holds the keys to heaven, when they say one must have a testimony of Smith to be saved, and that one has to pass by Smith to get into heaven, then who is really the savior of the LDS?  Certainly not Jesus Christ.

How sad that Mormons will spend eternity in hell separated from God unless they turn to the truth.

Random Things About Mormonism

Most of what I am posting on this site is being transferred from my apologetics blog, and so most of my links will be to older articles.  However, the information in these articles is still valid, and well worth knowing. These “Random….” posts will always be a collection of links which were mostly posted on many my weekly “Random Aberrations, Apostasies, and Heresies” articles, because I want to get all my Mormon stuff on one site!  So here goes today’s collection.

Do you suppose that Joseph Smith was fooled by the devil?   I’d say he certainly was — which was how Mormonism was invented.

Joseph Smith claimed that the Book of Mormon was written in “Reformed Egyptian.”  Of course no one has ever discovered such a language, but that doesn’t matter to the Mormon church.  Facts are not to be considered when you want to uphold a false belief system.

Not too many people know this about Mormons, but newlyweds are “punished” by the LDS by not being allowed to have family attend temple weddings.  On top of that, if they have a civil wedding to allow family members to attend, then they are banished from their temple wedding for a year.  Since the LDS consider such weddings to be an important step in their salvation progression, denying the temple wedding for a year could seriously affect their eternal position if they die before they have the wedding!  Of course in the real Christian faith, that is all nonsense anyway.  Just another example of legalisms in cults.

I don’t know how many times I have to say this, but Mormonism is NOT true Christianity!  Mormonism worships another god and another Christ - not those of the Bible.  This is “True Mormonism.”   In fact, as I have pointed out in the past, the Mormon Church actually places Joseph Smith in a position so as to be virtually more important than Christ!

I find it interesting how the Mormons have to revise history to make it appear that Emma Smith, Joseph’s wife, was in a great relationship with her husband and even approved of polygamy.  Rather than confess that she left the church over such nonsense, and refused to go to Utah with Brigham Young, the LDS church makes it appear she remained in Illinois for family reasons.  Perhaps they should accept the facts.

There is an excellent graphic at Mormon Infographics demonstrating some of the conflicting accounts of Joseph Smith’s “First Vision” - the vision which is supposedly the foundation of the LDS faith.  I discovered this site last year, and find it to be an excellent resource on the Mormon Church.

A couple of interesting articles from a good site I discovered last year, Markcares’s Weblog.
The first is a good article demonstrating that Mormons do indeed teach works-salvation, no matter how much they claim otherwise.  The other one explains the LDS idea about the atonement of Christ vs the Biblical idea.  Short and sweet.

Some sad information comes from Elizabeth Smart’s statement against the teaching of abstinence - except in context she was talking about the Mormon version which teaches that, if for some reason a woman is not a virgin before marriage, then she is pretty much worthless, even if it was due to rape.  This is a horrible teaching of which I wasn’t aware, since I study mostly Mormon doctrine.  BUT, does it really surprise me that this would come from a system in which men can have many wives?

One of the things I was always sadly amused about with the Mormons is their virtual worship of Joseph Smith.  I have previously seen hymns giving praises to Smith, and now you can see some of them, as well as other hymns teaching heresy, as posted on the blog of Mormon Research Ministry.

Random Things About Mormonism

The Book of Mormon itself actually has some Trinitarian doctrine because it was written when Joseph Smith still held a fairly orthodox view of God.  But then the Trinity disappeared in all the Mormon doctrine.  What happened to the Trinity?

Speaking of the Mormon view of God, this Mormon hymn starts with that, and then continues to address other doctrines real Christians hold.  Quite bizarre.

The Mormon church has long done their best to hide historical events, as well as doctrines, from  the rest of the world — let alone hiding them from their members.  Google has had a devastating effect on this practice because sites exposing them are all over the Internet.

Mormon Handbook has an interesting article examining whether Joseph Smith’s “First Vision” was actually plagiarized.

I stumbled across and interesting site which has one topic — the “Adam-God” doctrine.  Mormons really hate that doctrine and will fight tooth and nail to discredit it — in spite of the fact that Brigham Young claimed he got it from God.

Ever wonder how the Mormon church got to be so wealthy?  An article from 2012 explains a lot.

The Mormons place a lot of credence on “feelings.”  After all, they claim that you can know that the Book of Mormon is true when you pray about it and get that “burning in the bosom.”  One of the things we need to do when talking with Mormons is get them to see that feelings must be supported by evidence!  Jeremiah 17:9 reminds us that the heart (feelings) is deceitful.

When it comes to politics, Mormons have their own problems.   Harry Reid is not a worthy Mormon, according to an LDS bishop.  I happen to agree with him.  (Of course I also think any REAL Christian who supports the Democrat party is violating his Christian faith.)

By now I’m sure you’ve heard that the Mormon church has FINALLY confessed that Joseph Smith was a philandering polygamist.  It only took them 180 years of lying about it.  Oh, but they aren’t totally honest yet.  Smith was indeed a sexual predator.

The Mormon temple rituals are quite bizarre, and secret.  They currently deny that most of the rituals originated in Freemasonry, including the taking of blood oaths.  Someone posted on YouTube a video taken secretly in a temple. He has a YouTube channel with more videos in this regard.

To leave you with some amusement, look what happens when Joseph Smith is questioned about the Song of Solomon at the final judgment.

Random Things About Mormonism

This installment is all about videos you can view.

For those of us who have worked with Mormons, one thing we often get as a response from them, when questioning them about teachings, is the claim that what we say is “not official doctrine.”  So if I question about the teaching which says their god-man had sex with Mary to conceive Jesus, I’m told that is “not official doctrine.”  That sort of thing.  Well, Keith Walker has a great video on the subject about what is “not official doctrine.”  It perfectly demonstrates the frustration experienced when dealing with Mormon dishonesty.

The truth about how the Mormon church has always been racist, contrary to what they now claim.   (YouTube has this video on “safety mode,” which you have to turn off; I wonder if this was due to Mormon complaints.)

What about that “First Vision” Joseph Smith claimed for the origin of his church?
