God Is NOT, Nor Ever Was, a Man

For I am God and not man, the Holy One among you.

Hosea 11:9b

The LDS says God was once a man and is now an exalted man. I guess they never read Hosea.

What happened to all the comments?

I also noticed that the guy who questioned you on your post here not only published two blog posts on his Blogger, he also did a YouTube video on his channel.

Interesting what he has to say.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

I deleted them because they weren't important but especially since his name linked to false teachings.
I say his post and see nothing interesting because I've seen it all before.

While I do not agree with the LDS Faith, I did notice that the person who had commented, not sure what their name was, actually pointed out to you the problematic issue with how you are interpreting the passage of Hosea 11:9b. He is correct that you are actually cherry picking this verse out of context and attempting to build a strawman argument.

John Gill's Commentary actually disagrees with how you are attempting to interpret the passage from an Eisegesis Interpretation.

I will not execute the fierceness of mine anger

That is, his wrath and fury to the uttermost; his people are deserving of his wrath as others, being by nature children of wrath as the rest; which they are sensible of under spiritual conviction, and therefore flee from it, where they may be safe: and though the Lord often chastises and afflicts them, yet not in wrath; or however but in a little wrath, as it seems to them; he does not stir up all his wrath, nor any in reality; all being poured upon his Son, their surety, who saves and delivers them from wrath to come; I will not return to destroy Ephraim;

or "again", or "any more, destroy" him; not twice; he might be destroyed when carried captive into Assyria; but the remnant that shall spring from him in the latter day shall not be destroyed, but saved. The Targum is,

``my word shall not return to destroy the house of Israel;''

or I will not return from my love and affections to them, I will never be wroth with them any more; nor from my mercy to them, which is from everlasting to everlasting; or from my covenant, promise, and resolution to save them, they shall not be punished with everlasting destruction: for I [am] God, and not man;

a God gracious and merciful, longsuffering, slow to anger, and pardoning sin, and not man, cruel, revengeful, implacable, who shows no mercy when it is in the power of his hands to avenge himself; or God that changes not in his purposes and counsels, in his love and affections, and therefore the sons of Jacob are not consumed, and not man that repents, is fickle, inconstant, and mutable; or God that is faithful to his covenant and promises, and not man that lies and deceives, promises and never performs. The Targum is,
``seeing I am God, my word remains for ever, and my works are not as the works of the flesh (or of men) who dwell upon the earth;'' (Source: https://www.biblestudytools.com/commentaries/gills-exposition-of-the-bible/hosea-11-9.html).

Sorry, but Hosea 11:9 is not out of context. It's because he is God and not a man that he doesn't execute his anger where a mere man would do so.

How about Numbers 23:19 where God points out that he is not a man or a son of man? Titus 1:2 points out that he is GOD and cannot lie--as man lies. Hebrews 6:18 does the same.

How about 1 Samuel 15:29? Job 9:32, et al, say that GOD is not a man.

Anonymous Jul 12, 5:33 PM. I'm thinking there are three comments from the same person who like to judge sinfully.

No, that blog post did not show me to be wrong, all he did was give LDS understand and LDS is false teaching, an unbiblical cult.

Your ad hominem attacks on prove you are not a godly person and most likely a Mormon.

So, the individual whose comments I deleted due to his name linking to false teachings has made a video rebutting this post. He again claims I am arrogant and prideful and yet that is only because I stand by what I write. Using his ideas HE is the one who is prideful and arrogant.

He claims the idea of the Trinity is illogical, so I wrote this post:
https://watchmanvlds.blogspot.com/2025/07/logic-proves-trinity.html

Now tell my where the logic fails!

Well, anonymous, your friend is preaching/teaching falsely according to real Christianity. Mormonism is a cult and not real Christian. The evidence to back up my claim is this entire blog’s exposure of the false religion of Mormonism.

I’ve got plenty of real teeth and bite in the myriads of articles on this blog. My tail is not tucked between my legs, it is standing up straight and proclaiming the demonic religion of the false prophet Joseph Smith.

His claim that the Trinity is illogical and made up due to politics is proven wrong in the link I shared above which goes to my article on the Trinity—and all the evidence proves the doctrine was established long before any politics—it just wasn’t labeled.

His claim that I am arrogant and prideful is because I write the truth and he thinks if I claim it’s true then I am arrogant, but by the same standards he is the arrogant one.

I am not the ignorant one, but you certainly demonstrate that you are.

I have no desire to watch a video of a Mormon apologist claiming anti-Mormons are arrogant and prideful if we teach the truth about the LDS.

I grew big ones and stand as a real man.

Anonymous,

Thanks for showing your true colors—just a bunch of ad hominem attacks.

My entire blog exposes the false prophecies, false teachings, the nonsense of the Book of Mormon and how much it plagiarizes the KJV Bible, how ahistorical it is. Etc

You have no idea what my blog teaches because you haven’t read it.

Satan is the one who founded the LDS and the one who fights against people like me exposing the LDS for the fraud it is.

You are finished here.

The only coward here is one who is afraid to use his own name.

In Mormon theology, matter and intelligence are considered eternal, and God is seen as organizing rather than creating ex nihilo. Given this framework, how is divine omnipotence defined coherently? Can a being be truly all-powerful if they operate within pre-existing laws and materials they did not create—including eternal intelligences that, in some interpretations, may act independently of divine will? Does this suggest a more limited sovereignty than traditional Christian views, or is there a Mormon nuanced explanation within Moron cosmology that reconciles these tensions?

Still no answer from the Mormon who had the balls to rebut Glenn's article? Why is he so scared all of a sudden?

Anonymous 9/22, 1518,
Your libel will never be punished. Name -calling proves you lost the argument.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

I am deleting most previous anonymous comments since they are just argumentative or name-calling.

I missed auto correct which put "punished" when I wanted "published." Nevertheless, you will be punished eternally for being a Mormon.

Jesse Albrecht said...

I'd say that "punished" works just fine here.

Am I missing something here? Who are you all talking with, about, or what the heck is going on in here? Who is wanting to debate who and about what??

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Anonymous 9/29 2025,

I have an individual who wants to debate, and I'm not here to debate. I did not start this blog for debating, rather it's just for providing information as the the false teachings of Mormonism.

It seems rather confusing that I am seeing comments and then no actual interaction. I get that if someone is being insulting and disrespectful, however - there seems to be a lack of context here and kinda does a disservice for people to come here and see what the discussion is all about. It comes across as one-sided.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Look at the second comment in the string, my response to the first one and that tells the story as to why comments previously posted were deleted and comments wanting to be posted are only given a response which should tell you what the non-posted comment was about.

Anonymous said...

So, who is this guy that everyone is talking about? I'd like to go see what he says.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Anonymous 9/29 1:35
You obviously aren't paying attention. I don't send people to false teachings and since the guy is a Mormon, he's a member of a non-Christian cult pretending to be Christian.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

Anonymous. You're through here. It isn't rude or condescending to refuse to help people find false teachers. Mormons are NOT Christian and there is nothing wrong with saying that.

Anonymous said...

Seriously, I do not appreciate the way you are talking down to me with that attitude. And yes, it is quite rude. I asked a simple question so I can educate myself - apparently, you have quite the axe to grind. By their fruits you shall know them is what the Savior taught and it appears your fruit is from a very nasty tree.

And yes, I guess I am done here and I will make sure people are aware of how rude and condescending you are and not to come to your blog here.

Now I understand the reason someone was rude to you - because you are very disrespectful, rude, and feel you are above any correction. Good day sir and may the spirit prick your ugly callous heart.

Glenn E. Chatfield said...

To all my readers, I just post Mr Anonymous' comment to show you what I put up with. I have never been rude nor condescending in my responses, and certainly not "taking down" to him. I guess by saying Mormonism is a cult that is disrespectful? Please demonstrate where I meet any of this coward's ("anonymous with no name to me is cowardly when you attack me with absolutely no reason) charges! I certainly don't feel I'm above correction, but false teachers from the LDS have nothing for correction since everything on this blog CITES their teachings!!!
