Alma 16:13 tells how the Nephite evangelists “went forth preaching repentance to the people … in their synagogues, which were built after the manner of the Jews.” The Book of Mormon mentions synagogues twenty-five times. But synagogues were not developed by the Jews until four hundred years after Lehi left Jerusalem. How could the writer have know how the Jews built their synagogues?
