Did They Really Say That?!?

Elders, never love your wives one hair’s breadth further than they adorn the Gospel, never love them so but that you can leave them at a moment’s warning without shedding a tear.  Should you love a child any more than this?  No.
Brigham Young, 15 June 1856, Journal of Discourses 3:360.

So, Brigham Young is saying that if your wife is an unbeliever, you shouldn’t love them so much that you can’t just up and leave them.  What did Paul say about this?

If any woman has a husband who is an unbeliever, and he consents to live with her, she should not divorce him.  (1 Cor. 7:13)

Of course Paul’s instructions to men would be the same.

Well, the good thing about Young’s advice, if the women do not believe the LDS false gospel and their husbands give them the boot, they might just find salvation in the TRUE Gospel.

(Thanks to Mormonism Research Ministry’s Dec. 2013 MRM Update for exposing this.)
