How To Handle Demons

Now I will tell you, I have about a hundred shots on hand all the time -- three or four fifteen shooters and three or four revolvers, right here in the room where I sleep; and the Devil does not like to sleep there, for he is afraid they will go off half-cocked.

If you will lay a bowie knife or a loaded revolver under your pillow every night, you will not have many unpleasant dreams, nor be troubled with the nightmare; for there is nothing that the Devil is so much afraid of as a weapon of death.

President Heber C. Kimball, Journal of Discourses, Vol. 5, p.164.  Cited in “Mormonism, Mama & Me,” by Thelma “Granny” Geer, p.190

Wow, Satan is easily overthrown by mere pistols and knives!  Who'd a-thunk!

Did They Really Say That?!?

If our Father and God should be disposed to walk through one of these aisles [SLC Tabernacle], we should not know him from one of the congregation.  You would see a man.

I don't know about you, but I want to worship a God who is different from me!

Compressed Spirits Forget Pre-Existent Past

“When all these spirits [of God’s heaven-born spirit children] were sent forth from the eternal worlds, they were, no doubt, not infants; but when they entered into the infant tabernacle [body], they were under necessity, the same as our Lord and Savior, of being compressed, or diminished in size so that their spirits could be enclosed in infant tabernacles.

When Jesus was born into our world, His previous knowledge was taken from Him.  This was occasioned by His spiritual body being compressed into a smaller volume than it originally occupied. . . .  When this spirit was compressed, so as to be wholly enclosed in an infant tabernacle, it had a tendency to suspend memory. . . .

So it is with man.  When he enters a body of flesh, his spirit is so compressed and contracted in infancy that he forgets his former existence.”

Apostle Orson Pratt, Journal of Discourses, vol. 16, pg.334. Cited in “Mormonism, Mama & Me,” by Thelma “Granny” Geer, p.186

Spirits, having no real dimension, do not need to be compressed or compacted to fit anywhere.  And what biblical evidence do they have for any of this nonsense, especially since the Bible denies spiritual pre-existence (1 Cor. 15:44-46 — natural FIRST!)?  This story was obviously concocted to respond to questions about why we don’t remember pre-existing.

The convoluted stories cultists have to come up with to defend their false beliefs can be downright humorous!

Did They Really Say That?!?

Adam was an immortal being when he came on this earth.  He had lived on an earth similar to ours, he had received the Priesthood and the Keys thereof, and he had been faithful in all things and gained his resurrection and his exaltation and was crowned with glory, immortality and eternal lives and was numbered with the Gods for such he became through his faithfulness. And he had begotten all the spirits that were to come to this earth.  And Eve, our common mother, who is the mother of all living, bore these spirits in the Celestial world, and then this earth was organized by Elohim, Jehovah, and Michael, who is Adam, our common Father.  Adam and Eve had the privilege to continue the work of progression, consequently came to this earth and commenced the great work of forming tabernacles for those spirits to dwell in.
L. John Nuttall Journal, 7 February 1877, 1:19 as recorded in Michael/Adam by Ogden Kraut.  Nuttall was Brigham Young’s secretary and one of his closest friends.  Cited in “Mormonism, Mama & Me,” by Thelma “Granny” Geer, p.185

This is plainly the teaching of the Adam-God doctrine which the LDS claim was just Brigham Young’s idea and not from God.  Of course Young said he got the teaching from God, but I guess that doesn’t count when one is embarrassed by the teaching.

So the current theology of the LDS has God the Father as the origin of all the spirits, whereas here we see it is Adam who is the origin.  Additionally, whereas Michael in the Bible is an angel, which is a separate creation than man, this teaching has a man — Adam — being also Michael!

Notice how Adam had to work his way to godhood, and they previously lived on another planet.  The Bible knows absolutely NOTHING about such nonsense.  This teaching is about as convoluted as it gets.

Round Up of Recent “Mormon Coffee” Articles

I haven’t had a chance to post new stuff, and here it is already time for the best of the most recent Mormon Coffee articles.

Does the Mormon Church teach that Jesus was married?  Definitely.  BUT, as with so many doctrines which embarrass them now, this is one which is denied.

What is the real Mormon view of the bible?

I was amused by this question:  “How was Joseph Smith’s seer stone like a smart phone?

What defines Mormonism as a cult in relation to Christianity?

Read why Isaac Hale was not happy even seven years after Joseph Smith took off with his daughter against his wishes.

Mormons often fall in love with stories told by the Mormon Church, which are to help them in their faith.  The problem is, the Church doesn’t tell their members that these stories are not always true.

Brigham Young’s test of a prophet does not agree with the Bible’s test.
