Did They Really Say That?!?

The cause of much of the strife and conflict in the world, racism is an offense against God and a tool in the devil’s hands. How grateful I am that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has from its beginnings stood strongly against racism in any of its malignant manifestations.

Elder Alexander B. Morrison, Ensign, “No More Strangers,” September 2000.

This is a bald-faced lie.  The LDS has preached racism from their early days and continues teaching racism today!  Let me demonstrate from LDS teachings that they have always taught racism.

Let’s start with their teachings as to why there are black people in the world. Their teachings are that in the pre-existence when Satan decided to fight Jesus because he wasn’t selected to be the Savior, the spirits took sides in the battle. Those less valiant spirits were condemned to have black skin when they took on flesh at birth.

In the LDS Book of Moses black skin is associated with unrighteousness, as a punishment of Cain and his descendants (totally unbiblical), which passed through the Flood by Ham marrying a black wife. In the LDS Book of Abraham the blacks are “cursed as to the priesthood,” meaning they were to be denied the priesthood in the Mormon Church.  This site has an excellent history of how the blacks were treated in the LDS.

Let me steer you to some articles demonstrating the racist history of the LDS:

My article: Mormonism—A Racist Religion. This article proves that racism was an established doctrine in the Mormon church. On my shelf you will find the book, Mormonism and the Negro, by John J. Stewart (parts of which are examined in my article), with the subtitle, “An explanation and defense of the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in regard to Negroes and others of Negroid blood.”  I challenge my readers to download the pdf of this book and study the contents.

Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry has an excellent article examining racism as doctrine in the Mormon Church.

Brigham Young taught that if a white person “mixes his blood” with a black person (marriage or sexual intercourse) they are to be put to “death on the spot,” claiming that it is a law of God. (Journal of Discourses 10:110).

Read another article of mine—More About Racism in the LDS Church.

Brigham Young stated that if a black was given the priesthood before all qualified whites were given it, then the priesthood would be taken away from the LDS.

I could cite more and more evident proving that the LDS has always been racist (and their continued teaching about the origin of black skin proves they still are today) and they are lying to claim differently.  But then, the LDS was founded on lies and developed by more lies, and is sustained by lies. They belong to their “father, the devil . . . for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44)

I knew that the Mormon church has been racist from its very founding. But thank you for providing the necessary documentation for that fact.

Do Mormons teach mandatory circumcision for salvation by any chance?

Jesse,
No they don't teach that. Their teachings on circumcision are the same as real Christians'

Mormons are Christians. In fact, we are the original and only true Christians. You have been desceived by corrupt manuscripts and we laugh at you anti-LDS types behind the curtains because you fail to actually deal with Mormon theology and doctrine. The issues here are much deeper than what you laymen can handle. For starters, I recommend that you start reading the works of Robert Boylan.

Anonymous,

Mormons are NOT Christians because they worship a different God and a different Christ than what the Bible teaches. Joseph Smith wrote the BOM mostly by plagiarizing the KJV Bible and other books. I have dealt with LDS theology and doctrine throughout this blog, but apparently you haven't read much, if anything other than this one post, or you wouldn't be making your unsubstantiated claim. IN FACT, many, many "anti-Mormon" scholars, ministries, etc consistently address the horrible theology and doctrines of the LDS.

I used to be a Mormon. I have all the original BOM, D&C, and Smith's journals. On CD I have the Journals of Discourses and many, many other official LDS publications.

Try starting at the beginning of this blog if you dare, and just see if you can find anywhere in which I have errors in regards to what I teach about LDS doctrine.

Don't just hide behind anonymity like so many LDS defenders do -- that just demonstrates what a coward you are.

Jesse,
They claim to worship Jesus, but they worship a different Jesus than the Jesus of the Bible; they worship a Jesus of their own making.

Anonymous,

Seriously. It should be noted, that the works of Robert Boylan are not scholarship and ought not be titled, labeled, or considered as such.

Rather, it is polemics masquerading as 'scholarship'.

It should be noted that outside of LDS circles, this author isn't even on the radar in terms of biblical or historical scholarship - and for good reason.

Because he is not a scholar, nor is his work peer reviewed by respected scholars.

Don't take my word for it, go see his blog for yourself - especially if your not a Latter Day Saint.
