Two Angels, Two Messages: Moroni v. Gabriel 2020

Message from the angel Gabriel told Joseph of the Bible:

Matthew 1:21; “Call his name Jesus for he will save his people from their sins…” 

Message from the angel of light Moroni told Joseph Smith:

Joseph Smith History 1:33; “…my name should be had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues…”

The one sure thing that hasn’t changed since Matthew put ink to papyri is the message he recorded that came from God’s angel, Gabriel. The story hasn’t changed. You won’t find a reputable source divulging any information outside what we read in God’s word. While it sounds simplistic, it had to be one of the most profound messages known to mankind.

’Call His name Jesus’…it’s the segue to discovering how God intervened on man’s behalf through the soon-to-be-born child, Jesus, the one and only Savior of the world.

Fast forward 33+ years…after Jesus lived, died, and was resurrected, we find the Apostle Peter telling us how Jesus ‘went about doing good’. Acts 10:38.

Just as scripture tells us no one would give Him a good report, neither is there a report of anyone stating His name was known for both good, and evil. People accused Him of using the powers of Beelzebub, however, Jesus shot their accusations down by pointing out nothing can stand when it’s divided.

Jesus’ reputation was solid, and never changed.

Now, let’s examine the message coming from the angel of light, Moroni. We have three items of consideration –

#1. Brought message that Smith’s name would be known for good and evil

Joe Smith was only too eager in sharing Moroni’s message that Smith’s name would be known for both good, and evil. It’s as if he proudly wore it as a badge of honor…yikes!

#2. Moroni, the shape shifting angel of light

On p.24 of Mark Ashurst-McGee’s report, ‘Moroni: Angel, or Treasure Guardian’, you can read several different accounts of the attributes of this so called angel Moroni. Some described  him to be a Spanish conquistador type of fellow, with a slit throat, and blood draining from the gaping wound. Still others, reported Smith told them Moroni was originally a toad who morphed itself into a salamander which eventually ended up as the angel of light Moroni. This report, while lengthy, is well worth the read.

#3. Moroni, an Angel of Light

Several years ago I wrote an article (see link below) about Smith’s experience with Moroni on the autumn Equinox. Warning bells should start ringing about now…Moroni, Who was he?

Here’s a synopsis of the rest of that article –

After Moroni’s 3rd visit with Joe Smith, he leaves, and immediately, a cock crowed. Think Luke 22:31-34, where Peter denied Jesus for the 3rd time.

Then we see in Mormon canon (2 Nephi 9:8-9), declaring Satan as an angel of light. The next thing we read is the 3rd paragraph of the introductory page to Doctrine and Covenants (1976 ed., and earlier) which used to say, Moroni, an angel of light, appeared to Joseph Smith.

Now that we’re armed with all the information, which angel do you believe was sent from God?

Surely, it can’t be both, because as Jesus said, a house divided cannot stand.

Lastly beloved, would a true angel of God turn attention away from Him?

If you’re LDS, whom do you believe?

The God of the Bible wouldn’t take people on a rabbit trail, as Moroni has done. The God of the Bible never masquerades as an angel of light – only Satan does this.

Doctrine and Covenants 107:48-52 

Enoch was twenty-five years old when he was ordained under the hand of Adam; and he was sixty-five and Adam blessed him. And he saw the Lord, and he walked with him, and was before his face continually; and he walked with God three hundred and sixty-five years, making him four hundred and thirty years old when he was translated. Methuselah was one hundred years old when he was ordained under the hand of Adam. Lamech was thirty-two years old when he was ordained under the hand of Seth. Noah was ten years old when he was ordained under the hand of Methuselah.

According to the Bible, the Priesthood was established with Aaron. Since the priesthood is for interceding between man and God, it would be impossible for a 10-year-old to be ordained into that position.

So, as with so much of LDS doctrines, this whole paragraph is a lie invented by Joseph Smith. The LDS cult was founded on lies and is sustained by lies.

Now I am linking you to an excellent examination by Utah Lighthouse Ministry, and below I am citing parts of this article to whet your whistle, so to speak.

CHALLENGING THE VISION

Fawn Brodie, writing in 1945, pointed out that there were no contemporary accounts of Smith’s 1820 vision until Orson Pratt published his pamphlet “An Interesting Account of Several Remarkable Visions” in 1840. LDS historian James B. Allen frankly admitted that the story of the First Vision “was not given general circulation in the 1830’s.” Dr. Allen also admitted that “none of the available contemporary writings about Joseph Smith in the 1830’s, none of the publications of the Church in that decade, . . . mentions the story of the first vision. . . .” Dr. Allen went on to state that in the 1830’s “the general membership of the Church knew little, if anything, about it.” ….

CONTRADICTIONS

A few basic contradictions among the accounts include the following: According to the 1832 account Smith would have been 15, not 14, and had already concluded that all churches were wrong before entering the grove to pray, but the official account claims it was the heavenly visitors who first inform him of that. Also it does not mention a demonic presence at the start of the experience, yet later accounts do. In the 1832 account only Jesus was said to have appeared, but in later versions it was either angels or the Father and Son. The early accounts mention Smith was seeking forgiveness for his sins, whereas later accounts stress his desire to know which Christian denomination was accepted by God. According to various accounts Smith had his First Vision in 1820, 1821, or 1823.

Additionally, in the official account Smith claimed that the neighborhood revival occurred in 1820, while historical records indicate a revival date between 1824- 1825.

Most of the accounts of the First Vision prior to 1875 described the appearance of either one or more angels, but rarely God and Jesus. And even then, there was no emphasis on the Father as a physical being.

As you can easily see from these quotes, there are some very real problems with Smith’s story about his “First Vision.” The article is a very in-depth study of the topic, proving once and for all that the “First Vision” never happened.

Did They Really Say That?!?

Thanks to the Life After Ministry site I learned some teaching by Joseph Smith which I never before heard or read. To wit: The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that Noah is the angel Gabriel and stands next to Adam in holding the keys of salvation.

This lie is found in Gospel Topics—Noah. When you look at the full entry you should see some other bizarre lies about Noah, so let’s just take them one at a time.

[Noah] testified of Christ. Please show me where this is even hinted at in the Bible. Lie number 1.

When the people rejected his message, God commanded him to build an ark to house his family and all the animals when the earth was flooded to destroy the wicked.

God had already decided to destroy the earth and no where in the Bible does it say God decided that due to Noah’s preaching being rejected. Lie number 2.

The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that Noah is the angel Gabriel.  (As noted above.) Angels are a different category of beings than are humans so Noah could NOT be Gabriel.  Lie number 3.

[Noah] stands next to Adam in holding the keys of salvation. Adam never held any “keys to salvation” and neither did Noah.  Lies number 4 and 5.

The Lord renewed the covenant he had made with Enoch with Noah. Please show me from the Bible where God made a covenant with Enoch. Biblically-speaking, the covenant with Noah (and creation) symbolized by the sign of the rainbow, was never given first to Enoch, let alone Enoch receiving any covenant at all.  Lie number 6.

Noah was ordained to the priesthood when he was ten years old by Methuselah. There was no priesthood of believers before Israel when the Aaronic priesthood was established. Lie number 7.

Men tried to take his life, but the power of God saved him.  Where does it say this in the Bible?  Lie number 8.

He became a preacher of righteousness… So was Noah a preacher before the Flood, as noted above, or did he become a preacher after the Flood? This is at least a contradiction because if he was a preacher before, then he wouldn’t become one after, rather he’d still be one!

and taught the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Since Noah had no idea of a future Messiah (a teaching revealed to Israel), how could he teach a “gospel” which didn’t exist?!? Lie number 9.

So in this one teaching from the LDS there are 9 outright lies and one contradiction!

Well, Mormons, I’lll stake my salvation of the Jesus of the Bible and not the imaginary one Joseph Smith made up and that you still preach. As Paul says in Galatians 1:8-9: But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. And again in 2 Corinthians 11: 3-4: But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.  (KJV)

Leave the LDS and seek the true God and Jesus of the Bible.

Agglomeration

I am getting so behind in the topics I want to share on this blog as I pray that readers will see the error of the LDS, that I’m going have another collection of links to articles I think are really important.

If you are a Mormon, please thoughtfully study what you read at the linked articles. If you know a Mormon, please share these articles.  The truth about Mormonism and its false belief system is easily discerned if people are truly seeking the God of the Bible.

I just came across this article from August 2019, but I think it is still worth sharing. I hope more of this type of lawsuit takes place.

If the Mormon prophets are truly prophets of God, why do they need to keep changing things?  (The Book of Mormon itself has 4,000 changes.) Temple clothes are another thing being changed —if they got the design from God via Smith?…

Why do Mormons feel the need to continue attacking Christians, all the while claiming they do not do so?

Why is there so much lying by LDS Church leadership? It happens again and again. In fact, the whole of Joseph Smith’s teachings are proven too many times to be nothing but lies.

And it isn’t just lies, but also plagiarisms! And don’t even get me started on the many, many contradictions in Mormon teachings; you can find a lot of those noted on this blog by selecting the subject “Contradictions.” Here’s another link with LDS contradictions.

Think about it — it the church has so many contradictions in its teachings, how can it be from God?

What happened to Zelph? If the story about him is true, why is he not in the forefront of LDS teachings which supposedly prove Joe Smith was a prophet of God?

Joseph Smith claimed Jesus was a polygamist and that he, Joseph, is a descendant of Jesus and therefore is qualified to hold the “keys of salvation.” This is one of the most blasphemous teachings of the Mormon Church.

Well, I guess that’s enough thought-provoking for now — at least I HOPE it provokes thinking. Mormons are still dead in their sins without a real savior.

Did They Really Say That?!?

Some have said that I was very presumptuous to say that Brother Brigham was my God and Saviour, Brother Joseph was his God and the one that gave Joseph the keys of the kingdom was his God which was Peter. Jesus Christ was his God and (the) Father of Jesus Christ was Adam.

Journal of Wilford Woodruff, April 10, 1852.

This is among the most blasphemous statements one will find in the Mormon religion. Just take a look at what he’s saying here, and how many gods there are:
Woodruff’s God was Brigham Young.

Young’s God was Joseph Smith.

Smith’s God was the Apostle Peter.

Peter’s God was Jesus.

Jesus’ God was Adam.

First, we have to remember that Mormons believe that all temple Mormons will become gods, so there are gazillions of gods in the universe. In this list each person is worshiping a false god — except Peter is worshiping Jesus and Jesus is God as part of the Trinity. According to this citation even Jesus is worshiping a false god — Adam, the first man! How blasphemous can they get?!?

The Mormon religion is a pagan system of many gods; i.e. polytheism.  And every single one of them is a false god, a non-existing god to begin with.  Scripture tells us there is only one God, Yahweh. His name is not Adam or any other appellation from Mormonism.

Did They Really Say That?!?

The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age. A belief in the doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers. We might almost think they were ‘Mormons.’

Firstly, Jesus was never married. Nowhere in the Bible will find that notion even hinted at. Secondly, God did not and does not approve of polygamy, as I prove in this article.

The Pharisees and Sadducees were against Jesus because of His teachings, not because he was a polygamist. What you see here instead is another Mormon lie. Mormon polygamy was initiated by Joseph Smith to excuse away his serial adultery. To say God approves of such sexual immorality is nothing less than abject blasphemy.

LDS: Christians Rob Souls of Men

Today we’re looking at excerpts taken from a Mormon circular published in 1848 by LDS apostle, Orson Spencer.

While we’re not immune to coming across anti-Christian literature in Mormon propaganda, it was surprising to see an entire booklet dedicated to defaming Christianity. The booklet was written and printed for members living in Great Britain just four years after Joe, and Hyrum Smith were killed in Nauvoo, IL. Because of its sheer length, we’ve pulled a few quotes for examples. To read their entire circular, see link provided below.

Sadly, the Church’s attitude towards Christianity hasn’t changed. Proof  of this is seen in their canon — 1 Nephi 14:10.

It’s important for Christians to remember when witnessing to Mormons there’s not any one thing that’ll change their minds. This is done through the supernatural work of God’s Holy Spirit! Our job is to plant seeds of truth by explaining the identity of the real Jesus of the Bible.

We’ve posted our findings today to provide insight on what Mormons really think of people who aren’t LDS.

Although it’s not new to me personally, it’ll always be heartbreaking to know this is how I used to think each day when I was LDS.

Pray for those who feel trapped to ask the Lord for courage to leave!
