The cause of much of the strife and conflict in the world, racism is an offense against God and a tool in the devil’s hands. How grateful I am that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has from its beginnings stood strongly against racism in any of its malignant manifestations.
Elder Alexander B. Morrison, Ensign, “No More Strangers,” September 2000.
This is a bald-faced lie. The LDS has preached racism from their early days and continues teaching racism today! Let me demonstrate from LDS teachings that they have always taught racism.
Let’s start with their teachings as to why there are black people in the world. Their teachings are that in the pre-existence when Satan decided to fight Jesus because he wasn’t selected to be the Savior, the spirits took sides in the battle. Those less valiant spirits were condemned to have black skin when they took on flesh at birth.
In the LDS Book of Moses black skin is associated with unrighteousness, as a punishment of Cain and his descendants (totally unbiblical), which passed through the Flood by Ham marrying a black wife. In the LDS Book of Abraham the blacks are “cursed as to the priesthood,” meaning they were to be denied the priesthood in the Mormon Church. This site has an excellent history of how the blacks were treated in the LDS.
Let me steer you to some articles demonstrating the racist history of the LDS:
My article: Mormonism—A Racist Religion. This article proves that racism was an established doctrine in the Mormon church. On my shelf you will find the book, Mormonism and the Negro, by John J. Stewart (parts of which are examined in my article), with the subtitle, “An explanation and defense of the doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in regard to Negroes and others of Negroid blood.” I challenge my readers to download the pdf of this book and study the contents.
Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry has an excellent article examining racism as doctrine in the Mormon Church.
Brigham Young taught that if a white person “mixes his blood” with a black person (marriage or sexual intercourse) they are to be put to “death on the spot,” claiming that it is a law of God. (Journal of Discourses 10:110).

Brigham Young stated that if a black was given the priesthood before all qualified whites were given it, then the priesthood would be taken away from the LDS.
